Joe Stamm has a way of making seemingly minor moments feel as expansive and full as the Illinois River that runs through his central Illinois homeland. As Joe continues building a life in that same river valley, new stories continue revealing themselves to him. In the sound of the crickets on a summer night. In the smell of bonfire smoke on a mild winter day. In the taste of a cold garage beer.
After more than a decade of writing, performing, and touring, Stamm has honed his storytelling ability to such fine detail, you’d think he was there when you were getting up to no good in your hometown. The Matt Poss Band has packed a lifetime's worth of memories into the past two decades. Whether playing music at the countless fairs, festivals and rodeos, or at ski resorts, or at after-bar Outlaw MC barn parties, or at smoky pubs in Ireland, or riding around Afghanistan from show to show in a Chinook helicopter, MPB always brings the spirit and good times with them. Their high octane and high energy brand of country-rock can make a 10,000 seat Festival feel as intimate as your favorite dive bar, and can make your favorite dive bar rock like a 10,000 seat arena. "I think we are a country band that rocks, or maybe we are a rock band that knows how to two-step, or maybe we are just an American band. These songs are my honky tonk roots because of where I come from. We've evolved into this big mishmash of American music, and I'm really proud of that. We play biker bars, rodeos, and festivals. We've opened for Willie Nelson and Jamey Johnson, and we've also opened for Kid Rock and Jackyll. You can put us with anybody and we will hold our own." MPB consists of: Singer-songwriter Matt Poss on lead vocals and guitars. On keys, vocals, and guitar, is singer-songwriter Jeremy Adam. On bass is songwriter and guitarist, Sam Roan. And on drums is Rob Rennier, who has been jamming with Matt since 2004. Honky Tonk music isn’t dead. It’s just been hiding out in the Midwest with The Matt Poss Band.
